Hey guys, if you live in the state of Michigan, please consider writing a comment on this form regarding The State Board of Education Statement and Guidance on Safe and Supportive Learning Environments for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) Students. The State Board will be giving a verdict on whether or not to approve it after weighing in everyone’s comments on May 10, 2016. The cutoff date to comment is April 11, 2016.
A lot of the comments right now are negative, mostly from parents. If you are a student, a parent, or a member of the educational community, your comment matters a great deal right now. If you were a LGBTQ+ student in Michigan and you have a personal story to share about your treatment or fears in the school environment, now is the time to tell it.
If you don’t live in Michigan, please reblog this post so the word gets out.
